CRAFTY+
In this report we take a close look at the Crafty vaporizer from Storz and Bickel. The portable vaporizer from the long-standing vaporizer manufacturer has a lot to offer.
The German company Storz und Bickel is known for high-quality products, exclusive steam production and top-class processing. The big brother of the Mighty has been around for a while and is a lot bigger than the new model called the Crafty. Another well-known product from Storz and Bickel is the Volcano floor-standing vaporizer, which is mainly known for its balloon function.
The Crafty pocket vaporizer is the Mighty’s little brother and also has the high-quality, modern technology from Storz and Bickel. The Crafty also has a little extra: It can be controlled by an Android and iOS app! What else the little one has to offer and what the advantages and disadvantages are, let’s go on the trail. That’s why we tested the Crafty for you and summarized the most important facts for you in this report.
Instructions for use
The Crafty vaporizer is small and extremely handy. This makes it extremely easy to use and makes it particularly comfortable to hold.
Its small size of 11.0 x 5.7 x 3.3 cm fits in any trouser pocket. Another plus point is its weight: At just 135 grams, it is almost unbeatable! The plastic housing of the portable vaporizer looks robust and of high quality. All in all, the Crafty lives up to its name as a portable vaporizer!
You open the herb chamber with the help of a bayonet lock, which is closed by additional seals. This means that the steam stays where it should and you can inhale all of the steam through the rotatable mouthpiece. Overall, the Crafty vaporizer consists of a lot of plastic. However, this is particularly tasteless and does not affect your vaping experience in any way.
Chamber size, use, filling techniques
Herb Chamber, Usage & Filling Techniques
The Craft’s chamber holds approximately 0.25 grams of dry plant matter. With very fine material you can pack in a little more than 0.3 grams, but if you overfill the chamber, the draw resistance increases.
The herb chambers
First you fill the herb chamber with your favorite herbs. It is advisable to fill the chamber loosely and airy so that the air can work its way through the material perfectly. If you want to vaporize resinous substances that liquefy during the vaporization, you should use the drip pad. You simply put this in the chamber and then the material on the pillow. This is made of stainless steel and can be cleaned again.
Regardless of whether the chamber is filled to the top or only half full, the resulting steam is always terrific and your steaming experience is particularly intense.
Temperature settings
The portable vaporizer is extremely easy to use – it only has two temperature settings.
The so-called base temperature, which was defined by the factory is 180 ° C. This is enough to gently and patiently heat herbs and release the wonderful active ingredients. If you want to induce rapid evaporation, this can be implemented with the boost temperature. This is around 195 ° C.
These two levels allow quick and easy operation of the vaporizer. However, if you want to set the temperature even more precisely, the accompanying app is ideal for you. Based on this, the manufacturer Storz und Bickel allows an exact choice of temperature.
Both the base and the boost temperature can be precisely controlled between 40 ° C and 210 ° C with the app.
The mouthpiece
The mouthpiece is rotatable. This means that the Crafty can be stowed in almost any jacket or trouser pocket. In addition, this can be easily removed, which also simplifies cleaning.
The entire upper part is also replaceable. This also facilitates cleaning of the cooling chamber located in it. This additionally cools the steam in front of the mouthpiece and makes the steaming experience particularly pleasant.
Heating time
If you choose the basic temperature, the heating time is around 2 minutes. Once the temperature is reached, the Storz and Bickel Crafty begin to vibrate. Really a great feature!
Battery and charging times of the Crafty vaporizer
As already mentioned, is maturity of the Crafty about 45 minutes. However, this depends on the choice of temperature and therefore different.
It takes about 2 hours for the Crafty to fully charge the battery. The ingenious thing about it: The Crafty vaporizer can also be used while charging as soon as the battery has been charged to around 20%.
Thanks to the USB connection, it is possible to charge the Crafty vaporizer with a power bank while on the go and is therefore almost always ready for use.
During the Crafty vaporizer test, however, we found that this is not one of the most powerful portable vaporizers. Compared to other devices on the market, the battery life of the Storz and Bickel Crafty is rather short.
In addition, Storz and Bickel offers a warranty of two years for the Crafty vaporizer, so as technical with most devices is the case. An additional guarantee of one year has been available for some time after registration.
However, this is not very long compared to other vaporizer manufacturers. Other manufacturers, such as the Pax, offer a guarantee of up to 10 years.
guarantee
The Crafty is only guaranteed for 2 years, which includes defects in materials and workmanship. Unfortunately, the length is only below average. I would like a slightly longer warranty for this vape like the PAX, for example, but since it is a Storz & Bickel product and the company has a long history of success and first-class customer service, that’s not too wild.
PAX 3
The PAX3 transportable vaporizer turned into bought at the US marketplace in autumn 2016 and is subsequently available in Europe after a protracted wait. It is advertised as a similarly improvement of the PAX2, with the equal appearance however with a unique mechanism.
The PAX3 is designed to vaporize both botanicals and extractions. It has a cellular application that allows you to pick out evaporation temperatures to healthy the consumer’s flavor.
The PAX3 comes with 2 years. assurance and the same accessories as the PAX2.

Information about the herb chamber
The PAX 3 herb chamber
The herbal chamber size has remained the same on the Pax 3. The only difference is the three oven lids that come with the device instead of just the full pack lid of the heating chamber. I need about 0.5 to 0.20 grams of dry herbs in the chamber when I use the Half Pack Lid, depending on the grind (0.15 g for medium to coarse grains and 0.20 g for a particularly fine grind). With the standard lid for the heating chamber, the Pax 3 chamber holds 0.30g to 0.40g dry herbs. With the use of extract, I have found that less is more, and that the performance drops and the cleaning speed increases if it was overloaded.
Information about the battery, battery life and charging options
In this area, too, Pax has improved a lot. With 3500mAh, the Pax 3 now has around 17% more battery capacity than the 3000mAh in the Pax 2. During my test with a fully charged battery, I was able to enjoy between 5 and 10 bowls and between 95 and 110 minutes of heated total running time, depending on the duration of the session. This gets me around 140-180 puffs per charge on average. In my tests, it took the Pax 3 95 and 105 minutes to fully charge from 0%. So, if you toss the Pax 3 on the charger for 1.5 hours, you can count on 1.5 hours of runtime, which is really impressive, especially when charging USB devices.
Battery life
- 1 LED 0-25%
- 2 LED 25-50%
- 3 LED 50-75%
- 4 LED 75% -100%
In all fairness, the Pax 3 is probably the best model in terms of battery life, which is extremely impressive for its size, although it would be cool if the battery could be user-swapped.
The Pax 3 comes with a magnetic charging station that charges via USB. The magnet is not the strongest the device / charging station must be attached with rubber bands if you want to charge the device on the go, where it is tossed around like a backpack.
I wish Pax had supplied us with the smaller “mini charger” with the Pax 3, but it’s still available in the accessories section of the website. It’s easier to attach to the device and you don’t have to worry about it falling off when you charge the device on the go.
